Terroir of Riesling Grand Cru Kaefferkopf
The Maison Kuehn vineyard is located in Ammerschwihr, west of Colmar in Alsace. The Appellation Alsace Grand Cru Contrôlée crowns delimited terroirs with exceptional geological features and exposure. These terroirs produce exceptional wines, gastronomic wines, fascinating and authentic wines. The Grand Cru Kaefferkopf is located on the most beautiful knives of Ammerschwihr; facing south and west, the subsoil is made up of granite, limestone and sandstone. It produces elegant wines of great finesse.
Vinification of Riesling Grand Cru Kaefferkopf
Our oenologist, Francis Klee, keeps a particularly close eye on these plots and follows all the rules of conduct associated with the Alsace Grand Cru appellation with great rigour. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. The grapes are gently pressed and the juice is naturally clarified at low temperature. Fermentation is slow and ageing on fine lees for a minimum of 9 months gives the wine the richness and intense, complex expression of the world's greatest white wines.
Tasting notes of Riesling Grand Cru Kaefferkopf
Its delicate bouquet reveals notes of citrus fruit and white flowers. The palate combines freshness and elegance with more exotic notes such as yuzu. Well-balanced, with fine acidity, a hint of minerality and good length.
Food and wine pairing with Riesling Grand Cru Kaefferkopf
Alsace Grand Cru Kaefferkopf Riesling is a gastronomic wine that is perfect with seafood or fish: Turbot with orange and rosemary sauce, fish fillet with lemon grass sauce, pike-perch, monkfish, etc. It is also a wonderful accompaniment to scallop tartar, or the most delicate meats such as lobster or crayfish.
